Where to be careful
- Supplier judgement. Financial standing, competence and references need checking by a person. A tidy summary of a PQQ return isn't due diligence.
- Competence questions. The Building Safety Act and CDM 2015 both put weight on competence. Make sure your questions fit the work, especially on higher-risk buildings, and take advice if you're unsure.
- Public sector rules. If you're buying for a public body, the Procurement Act 2023 sets the process. AI can help draft documents, but the process, criteria and scoring must follow the Act and what you've published.
- Confidential pricing. Supplier quotes and accounts should only go into a business account your company has approved, and never be shared between bidders.
